Skilled Migrants Get Easier Pathway to Permanent Residence Amid Pandemic – TSS subclass 482 Visa
From 1 July 2022, the Minister made legal changes to allow skilled migrants who stayed in Australia during the pandemic to have better access to permanent residence. A positive change for Australian businesses skilled migrants, and the community.
The change is that Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) subclass 482 visa holders who have been in Australia for at least one year between 1 February 2020 and 14 December 2021 are able to apply for permanent residence through the Subclass 186 Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream.
In addition to Short-term stream TSS visa holders, the Government is advising that this pathway is also available to Medium-term stream TSS visa holders with an occupation on the Regional Occupation List (ROL). The ROL list includes a variety of occupations not available for sponsorship in the cities, such as sports centre manager, maintenance planner, and a range of farming occupations.
This pathway is currently available for two years from 1 July 2022 so do not hesitate or delay to investigate your eligibility.
